As Shakespeare said, “And though she be but little, she is fierce.” Pinterest is drowning in pink and floral decorations for little girls room, but I adoringly refer to the Carolina Reaper- one little seed with a fierce fire in her.
120 days. Believed to be the hottest pepper in the world, the Carolina Reaper is a serious scorcher! For those extreme pepper eaters, Carolina Reaper is a must. For those less adventurous, they make a great conversation piece in the garden. These devious little peppers are fiery red with a little scythe shaped tail at the base of many fruit, hence the name reaper. The heat rating on these monsters can be over 1,500,000 Scovilles; in comparison the spicy habanero is a mere 100,000 Scovilles!
Why grow the hottest pepper in the world?
I love Juju Paradise. I love when people from all over the world come here and awe at the majestic redwoods and seclusion from the rest of the world. When you look off the top deck of the Airbnb at Juju Paradise, you are surrounded in a comforting circle of gigantic trees. It’s stunning all on its own.
I also love showing our visitors the garden. The garden is my special place. Lots of hard work and planning goes into it. I try to grow varieties that are different- purple carrots, black tomatoes, and of course the hottest pepper in the world. All the planning, the watering, the weeding, the care- it all is worth it when I see the wonderful and colorful varieties that we grow here at Juju Paradise.
If I am going to grow a pepper, why not make it magical, something different, something exceptional? After all, Juju is something spectacular.
So if you happen to stay with us when the Carolina Reaper is ready, venture down to the garden with me.
